Hey I use .hack//chat all the time. Love it. Check the site I made [link]
It's still in progress but its pretty good.
Also I've been telling everyone how to view and write Japanese in .hack//chat on a western computer. So you either download Microsoft AppLocale and use it on IE. Or you set the language of non-unicode applications to Japanese.
